We start our study on 2nd Corinthians where Paul addresses the structure of the kingdom set up by Jesus. Caesar Augustus took on the name “Augustus” because he was viewed as “savior” of Rome. Many Judeans looked to Jesus as their “savior”. Rome’s religion provided for the needy through force, fear, and violence. The religion in Jesus’ kingdom took care of the needy through faith, hope, and charity. In Part 2, we provide a better understanding of the word “agape.”
